Hull Rupture beginner guide

Classic asks you to survive 20 waves and a boss. The run ends when aliens reduce Despot to 0 HP; an airlock breach alone is not stated as an instant loss in the launch announcement.

The studio's own strategy line, from the first devlog, is to spend the bare minimum on survival and put everything else into economy growth.

Opening order

Staff the generator first. Energy comes from people assigned over time. Then build a Reproducer, because that is the population source. Add one Mineral Generator, because minerals are the build material. Put one turret where the airlock approach is covered, and keep a repair margin.

That order is the public systems laid end to end. It is not a wave-by-wave script. Nobody has published official counts of enemies per wave.

1.0 building rules

You may place a module in any empty slot. The demo rule, a finished neighbor before a new slot, does not apply to the release build. Hull pieces come in 15 shapes, they do not rotate, they do not come off, and they cannot block the airlock or the engine. Skipping a piece still costs resources.

Five mistakes map onto those rules: only building guns, spreading modules until the ship is too heavy to move, parking repair at the stern, ignoring the landing preview, and adding modules while the grid is unpowered.

What players report

Several Steam reviews say the first runs collapse and that the tutorial is thin. Checkpoint Gaming's 5 Nov 2026 review scores the game 7/10 and praises the interface while calling later runs similar.

Read wave 20 once the ship can reach the boss, and modules for the named parts.

FAQ

Which ship do I start on?

Hephaestus is the Classic default. Hermes and Proteus unlock later.

Should I copy a demo video's slot order?

Only the economy idea. Slot adjacency as a build lock is a demo rule.

Is there a best strategy number?

The studio published a priority, not a damage table. I am not filling the blanks.
